Chris and Caitlin met in the fall of 2014 at Illinois State University. They spent months developing a close friendship, in which they took each other to dances, merged their friend groups, and experienced their first year at ISU together. At the end of the school year, Chris officially decided he wanted to be more than friends, and brought this up to a surprised Caitlin right before the summer. This was apparently obvious to their friends/family, who made the following comments on their "Facebook official" post: "finally", "everyone saw this coming", and "this took way too long to happen". They solidified their relationship on June 5th, 2015, and have celebrated 7 anniversaries since then!

Chris and Caitlin were inseparable throughout college. They participated in Greek life, traveled, and found the perfect balance in their relationship. Everything fell into place when they realized that Caitlin's best friends and Chris's best friends got along flawlessly, and so the perfect friend group was formed. Their lives aligned in many ways, and they were able to transition to each life stage, while growing closer together. When Chris graduated college and began working in the city, Caitlin began student teaching in Batavia. They learned how to balance seeing each other, and growing closer together after starting their careers as well. After saving money and living at home, Chris and Caitlin decided to buy a condo in Naperville in July, 2019.

Moving in together was one of the best decisions they could have made, and it truly made them realize how compatible, and devoted they both were to each other. Chris and Caitlin both believe that the foundation of their relationship is friendship/companionship, and this helped build a life together based on commitment, harmony, and dedication. They enjoy spending time vacationing, golfing, having date nights, binging Netflix shows, going on walks, and finding other ways to create new memories together. When everyone was told to quarantine in 2020, Caitlin and Chris were relieved to be living with each other. They knew they were not only significant others, but were best friends who loved being together. Caitlin and Chris had an unbelievable amount of fun spending 24 hours a day with each other for three months straight, which included creating an indoor mini golf course, making new recipes, and pulling pranks on each other.

They continued to go on new adventures, and grew closer together each day. It was no surprise that Chris decided to pop the question in the summer of 2021, soon after they celebrated their sixth year anniversary as a couple. Caitlin (who hates surprises) of course helped pick out the ring, and made Chris tell her potential weekends in advance. She was surprised, however, to find out Chris arranged their closest friends and family to be there for the engagement/surprise after party. They both had never felt so loved by all of the people who congratulated them, and wanted to celebrate their engagement. Caitlin had been blown away by Chris's careful planning, and his desire to make it the most perfect proposal. They quickly decided on a wedding date at the perfect venue, and the planning for their special day began!
